The
FCC rules and new national Do-Not-Call
list is a great thing! Among
other things....
-
Credit card companies can't
cold-call you at dinnertime
-
Scam companies can't send
you junk faxes
-
Long distance companies can't
interrupt your dinner with cold calls
-
Fake surveys that are really
trying to sell things are prohibited
However....SOMEBODY
with enough pull got an exemption
that you DON'T know about.
Radio
and TV Stations!
Under
the new rules, Radio and TV station calls are not "solocitations" so:
-
Can telemarket
you whenever they want (even late at night and
early in in the morning) despite being on the
national do-not-call list
-
Do NOT
have to abide by your request to stop calling!
-
Can use
obnoxious prerecorded message calls and
fill up your answering machine
-
Can call
you repeatedly to tell you "listen to the morning
show"
-
Can send
all the junk faxes promoting
their station that they want
FILE A COMMENT WITH THE FCC * If you agree
with me that these telemarketing calls from
radio and tv stations are NOT wanted, you need
to FILE A COMMENT with the FCC and give
them your opinion!
